Bridesmaids Behaving Badly

We have previously posted the responsibilities of the bridesmaid but due to the alarming stories we have heard recently, we feel we need to give a little advice to brides who are struggling with bad bridesmaids. You have chosen your nearest and dearest to beside you on your wedding day. But what happens when this person starts to make things difficult for you?

Always, Always, Always a bridesmaid

This is the gal who has enough bridesmaid dresses to open her own boutique. She is going to tell you her opinion on dress selection and dismiss all of yours. None of the other bridesmaids want to be around her because she is a negative know-it-all who is trying to persuade the other’s to go against what the bride wants.

Problem: She hates the bridesmaid dress you picked out and is demanding you look elsewhere. The other bridesmaids are supportive of your decision and just want you to be happy.

Possible Solution: First, ask the bridesmaid what she doesn’t like about the dress. It could be a matter of the cost. Maybe it’s just a simple case of her not being able to afford it. If you don’t feel like addressing it with the bridesmaid will make things better, have someone who can be diplomatic do it. Have them tell the bridesmaid how their words are hurting the bride (You). The other solution is to choose the dress anyway and give the bridesmaid all of the gown information and let her do the rest. If she wants to participate, she will.

sush

Shhh! Don’t tell the bride I’m pregnant!

This is the friend who has been secretly trying to get pregnant. When you asked her to stand next to you on her special day, she was 8 weeks pregnant and was afraid to tell anyone.

Problem: Instead of mentioning it to you,  she stayed mum but truth is she will be 7 months pregnant by your wedding date. She doesn’t want to hurt you but she also doesn’t want to be in the wedding. So you go shopping for dresses and everyone else is ready to finalize their order except for her. She is dragging her feet. She finally tells you. Maybe even after the order has already been placed.

Possible Solution: This can be hurtful but there is one thing you should know. This person most likely didn’t do this with the intention of hurting you. When someone is trying to get pregnant this can be a sensitive subject. People don’t usually announce a pregnancy until after the first trimester. Let your bridesmaid know that you are happy for her but you wish she had told you sooner. If this person is close to you and still wants to be involved, maybe they can read a bible verse or help you in another way.

The Obligatory Bridesmaid

Courtesy of TriStar Pictures: My Best friend’s Wedding

Including family in your bridal party can be a blessing or a nightmare. In order to prevent drama you might make a distant cousin or in-law a bridesmaid. This doesn’t always make for a good bridesmaid. If you don’t have a great relationship or worse a bad one, it could spell disaster for your wedding.

Problem: All of your bridesmaids have made deposits for their dresses. In order to make sure that all of the dresses come from the same dye-lot (cut from the same color fabric) you have to have everyone place their orders soon. All of your bridesmaids are in danger of possibly having to pay a rush fee because of the one bridesmaid who hasn’t placed her order and isn’t making this a priority. They are also dodging phone calls and email from you.

Possible Solution: First ask yourself why you made this person a bridesmaid. Did you do it to make someone else happy? We would recommend first contacting this person and explaining the situation. If the answer you get is rude or worse none at all, contact the person you are trying to please by allowing this bridesmaid to be in the bridal party. Example: Your fiance’s sister is the person in question and you were doing it to make him happy. After attempting to do everything you can yourself, try going to your fiance or future mother-in-law and ask their advice. Hopefully this gives you the solution you need to either rectify the situation or move on from it. This can be the most difficult bridesmaid to have.

The function of a bridesmaid is to support her bride on one of the most important days of her life.Whatever happens, remember that this is your day.  Don’t worry about people thinking you are Bridezilla for wanting cooperative bridesmaids. Purchasing a bridesmaid dress when asked is the very least they can do for you. Brides who order bridesmaids dresses from us get the red carpet treatment. Wonderland Bridal is Team Bride! Please call us to schedule your appointment today.

Love Story: Nathalie & Jose

IMG_2486

We sat down with another beautiful Wonderland bride to get her love story. Meet Nathalie & Jose, who were married November 18th, 2017.

IMG_2475

When and how did you meet?

We met at Florida Atlantic University through mutual friends as we were both studying business majors. Jose was Finance major and I was a Marketing major, this was back in 2009.

How long did you date before he popped the question?

We dated for 7 years before he finally popped the question on June 2016 at a beautiful vineyard in Napa Valley, California.  The name of the vineyard is V.Sattui Winery.

How did he propose?

In June 2016, we traveled to California for the Copa America (Soccer Cup of the Americas). We are both Colombian and the opening game was Colombia vs. USA, really great game. As part of our trip we decided to visit a few vineyards and we were granted a special tour of the vineyard since we had purchased a case (This was the reason given to me, little did I know he had spoken to the owner and mentioned the idea to propose). While taking a photo, he said look at the scenery and I looked once I turned around he was on his knees saying all these beautiful things and all I could say was Thank you. Hahaha pretty funny for everyone that was present.

Where were you married and how did you pick the place?

We got married in Cali, Colombia where both of our families are from. We selected the place because of its rustic yet classy look. We wanted to stay away from enclosed ballrooms and give our guest the opportunity to see where we come from, the culture, etc. The church where the ceremony was held is the place where Jose did his Confirmation and where my matron of honor had her communion so it had some family ties. Church: Parroquia La Transfiguración del Señor Reception: Casa de Eventos Piedra Grande

What theme and/or colors have you chosen for your wedding and why?

Our colors were Navy Blue and Blush. Blue is Jose’s favorite color and we wanted something rustic/vintage classy.

Where did you go for your honeymoon?

A few days after the wedding we went to an Island called San Andres in Colombia.

Why did you chose Wonderland Bridal for your dream dress?

Wonderland Bridal had a great selection of dresses and the experience felt intimate. I had gone to other places in the Gables and it always felt so rushed and overwhelming. Wonderland Bridal allowed me to find my perfect dress.

Share your experience about your time with Wonderland Bridal.

The team at Wonderland Bridal was exceptional! From my first meeting Patty and CeCe treated me like family. They allowed me to try on as many dresses without feeling pressured and suggested other they thought I might like. Their goal was to get me in the dress I felt most comfortable and beautiful in. The women in my family are very opinionated which I love but that did not stop the Wonderland team from focusing on what was best for me. It was a super sweet and professional experience.

What was the best part of your wedding day?

There was a moment in the wedding when Jose and I looked at all our guest and felt so loved. Not only were we surrounded my so many people who loved us but we knew they all made a tremendous effort to share this moment with us as many of them had to travel to Colombia to be with us. It was really something very special to us.

Any advice to future couples currently planning a wedding?

Create a budget and stick to it as much as possible. As you get closer to your wedding there are so many little things that come up. During the planning process think about all the things you want to have and what both of you are willing to give up.

Love Story: Katie & James

Katie James'Wedding-566We sat down with another beautiful Wonderland bride to get her love story. Meet Katie & James, who were married November 17th, 2017.

Katie James'Wedding-250

When and how did you meet?

James and I met when I was home for spring break from college. A friend of mine invited me to the beach with a bunch of her friends and James and I went on a walk and got to know each other that day.

How long did you date before he popped the question?

We dated for 1 year and 3 months before James proposed.

How did he propose?

We were walking down Fort Lauderdale beach where we had one of our first dates. After a long walk, we came up to a heart in the sand that looked like it was deeply shoveled into the ground and rose petals all around and inside the heart. He took my hand and walked me inside the heart. James started to tell me some memories we had together and then he got down on one knee and proposed. After, my family and friends were all at the beach hiding out and came to surprise me. We ended our night celebrating with all of our family and friends.

Where were you married and how did you pick the place?

We got married at The Flamingo Gardens. We toured several venues but all I ever really wanted was an outside wedding with lights and trees all around us. Flamingo Gardens was beautiful during the day time but it was MAGICAL at night so we went for it!

What theme and/or colors have you chosen for your wedding and why?

Picking my colors was one of my favorite parts of planning our wedding! Mauve, ivory, gold accents, and greenery! I wanted my wedding to really have a garden/whimsical feel.

“A cord of three strands is not quickly broken” Ecclesiastes 4:12 was our theme Bible verse for our entire wedding. James and I agreed that our wedding day was more than the trees, the lights, and the colors. To us, the meaning of our marriage goes beyond just one day. During our ceremony we literally braided a three strand rope in the shape of a cross to symbolize the meaning of this verse. Our theme was and is to keep God at the center of our marriage.

Where did you go for your honeymoon?

We decided to bundle up and go to Asheville, NC during November and see the Fall leaves. Since we are from Florida and all.

Why did you chose Wonderland Bridal for your dream dress?

The dress shopping experience at Wonderland was peaceful and stress-free. I always had in mind what kind of dress I wanted. Wonderland Bridal showed me dresses that matched what I had in mind and they were at such a reasonable price!

Share your experience about your time with Wonderland Bridal.

I chose my dress during my first visit there! I really felt like the ladies at Wonderland knew my vision and understood what I was looking for. All the dresses I tried on were exactly what I wanted. They allowed me to take my time and made the experience of finally choosing my dress so special for me and my guests who were with me.

They were with me every step of the way especially since they helped with my Bridesmaids dresses as well. The Wonderland ladies really went above and beyond to make sure my girls and myself had everything we needed.

What was the best part of your wedding day?

Where do I start? I had FUN from beginning to end!

If I had to choose though it would be the time spent with my husband during our first look. It really was the only “alone time” we had during our wedding and I loved it! Not to mention I cried like a baby.

Any advice to future couples currently planning a wedding?

Yes! I know it’s hard to imagine BUT there IS life after wedding planning so don’t get so caught up in the details for one day that you forget marriage is more important than the wedding day. AND HAVE FUN! Things might not go as planned but just embrace the day and enjoy the people!

Love Story: Dara and Jonathan

IMG_4158 (1)We sat down with another beautiful Wonderland bride to get her love story. Meet Dara & Jonathan, who were married November 4th, 2017.

IMG_4118

When and how did you meet?

Jonathan and I met online in March of 2015. Instagram, to be exact. We were both into body building and competing and I was getting ready to do my first show and thought it would be a good idea to start following other competitors for motivation. I lived in Florida and Jonathan in Georgia. Jonathan is one of the body builders I started following and his page intrigued me. His physique, workout technique, diet and of course his good looks and personality drew me in. I started going through his page and liking pictures here and there. A couple days later, I noticed I caught his attention because he had liked a few of my pictures as well. I decided to be bold and DM him and let him know that I was getting ready to compete and if he would mind me asking him questions. He replied me back to me, gave me his number and told me that he wouldn’t mind. We talked through FaceTime for three months before we decided to set up a date to meet each other in person. We wanted to wait until after we both competed to travel. Jonathan decided that he would fly to me first and we established June 4th, 2015 as the date.  June 4th finally came and we finally were able to meet in person. It was love at first touch! We made it official that we were dating and everything was great. We both flew back and forth to visit one another until I decided to move to Georgia that following September.

How long did you date before he popped the question?

Jonathan and I dated for a year to the date before he popped the question.

How did he propose?

Being born and raised in South Florida, Jonathan knew I was a beach girl. So, he asked my Dad for my hand in marriage on February 15th, 2016 and once my Dad gave him his blessing, he told all of my family and close friends that he wanted it to be a surprise and have them all included. So, we came down to visit my family the weekend of June 4th, 2016. Like always, the beach was on our list of things to do. Saturday, June 4th, 2016 we went to thebeach and about an hour in, Jonathan starts confessing his love for me when I turn around and see all of my family and friends standing behind me on the sand. Jonathan asks me to stand up and in front of everyone, proposes to me. The entire beach erupts in cheers and whistling. I was more than happy!

Where were you married and how did you pick the place?

Jonathan and I got married at the Woodmont Country Club in Tamarac, FL. I decided to pick them as our venue because I wanted a Moroccan themed wedding, since I am Moroccan, and it just so happened that the chef at the venue is Moroccan and knew how to cook all the food I wanted and had all the Moroccan décor I envisioned. I knew that this was the place after meeting and speaking to him. Such a friendly, professional guy.

What theme and/or colors have you chosen for your wedding and why?

I had a Moroccan themed wedding and my colors were gold and plum because they are Moroccan colors.

Where did you go for your honeymoon?

We haven’t gone on our honeymoon yet but plan to go to either Cuba or Jamaica.

Why did you chose Wonderland Bridal for your dream dress?

I chose Wonderland Bridal because my Matron of Honor, purchased her wedding dress and bridal party dresses from Wonderland and I loved the selection they had to offer and of course the staff. I went to two other places before going to Wonderland and the reaction I got from my friends and family were priceless.

Share your experience about your time with Wonderland Bridal.

The girls there are so nice and helpful and they became my friends rather than just another sales lady trying to sell me something. They asked all the right questions in trying to help find my perfect dress.

What was the best part of your wedding day?

EVERYTHING…. But obviously marrying my best friend in front of everyone we love and care about.

Any advice to future couples currently planning a wedding?

Enjoy every minute of the wedding planning and don’t stress. Have fun. And make sure you have the right people around and helping you.

Capturing your Perfect Wedding Day Look

As any bride who has taken an iPhone photo of her wedding gown knows,  it can be difficult to miss some of the special details. How is it that photographers bring out all of these details? Lenses, yes. Lighting, definitely. All of that helps but what can you do to make an impact in your photos?

Preparation

First and foremost, Helena Carmouze with Provoke Photography recommends, “Make sure that you have everything that you need for your detail photos in the room with you while you are getting ready: wedding dress, veil, shoes, rings (both wedding rings), etc. Having these things accessible allows the photographer to capture details in the most efficient way possible.”

Sparkle

When you wear a dress with sparkle it can make your gown almost glow. Certain stones and sequin will reflect light and send delicate flares from your gown. Many wedding gowns this season have a sequin underlay which adds more sparkle to an already blingy dress. If you are not a big fan of sparkle, there is a way to have a subtle hint without it feeling overwhelming. Clear sequin over appliques are a great addition to any dress.

6643.1510169875.0

This gown from Stella York has light sparkle on the appliques and straps but can be ordered with or without a sequin underlay. You can try this stunning gown on at Wonderland Bridal.

If you are completely against having any sparkle on your wedding gown you may want to think about your accessories. We see many brides who love studded earrings.  Simple studs look nice but in any photo that is not a close-up, you won’t even see your earrings if they are too small. We suggest a larger stud or a small dangle if you don’t want to wear anything too heavy. If you are open to a dangle earring but are not used to wearing anything so long, we suggest wearing them for a little while every day until you feel comfortable having them on or decide that you need to go with another style.

Train

Make sure you get pictures of that fabulous train! A train doesn’t have to be long to create a dramatic photo. There are so many different and creative ways that a photographer can have you position your dress. The more details the better!

Tip: Make sure that when a photographer fans out the train to take a photo, you move as little as possible. Some trains, especially those that are illusion are very difficult to position.  If you turn around or kick the dress, the picture will take longer to set up.

Don’t stop here! Ask your photographer what ideas they have for shooting your wedding day and what else you can do to make your photos extra special. After all, they will tell a story you will be able to look back on for years to come.

Love Story: Amanda & Roy

image5

We sat down with another beautiful Wonderland bride to get her love story. Meet Amanda & Roy, who were married October 7th, 2017.

image6

When and how did you meet?

I had joined the dating site Okcupid after moving to FL in April. Roy messaged me at the end of June and hooked me by using quotes from Seinfeld, my favorite show. After several weeks of talking online and through text, we met for our first date at Tap 42 in Ft. Lauderdale. Afterwards we took a walk along the river walk, where we had our first kiss.

How long did you date before he popped the question?

On our second date we talked about what we wanted out of life (marriage and family). During Christmas shopping at the mall he attempted to take me in to Kay’s jewelers to look at rings but I was too anxious so quickly walked out of the store. Between Christmas and April we talked about our future together. In April we looked at rings so he could see what I liked. In July he asked my dad’s permission. In Aug he flew to long island to a family friend’s jeweler store to design the ring. The center diamond that was used was taken out of my grandmother’s wedding band that I had received from my parents several yrs ago.

How did he propose?

We went to the Naples Zoo and he had planned to propose on a boat ride around the monkey exhibit, however the boat broke down while we were in line waiting. Fast thinking had him take me to the Naples beach afterward to see the sunset. This is where he proposed. He asked a woman on the beach to take our picture and whispered that he wanted a video because he was going to propose.

Where were you married and how did you pick the place?

Coconut Cove in Islamorada, Fl. We chose this because its an all inclusive intimate private wedding resort, 10 miles from where Roy grew up. They have a beach space, tiki hut style reception space, and rooms for guests to stay. Only one wedding is conducted each wedding so there is no competition with other weddings or wedding crashers.

What theme and/or colors have you chosen for your wedding and why?

Travel/beach theme because we have a passion for traveling and this was a destination wedding for family and friends traveling from MI and Chicago. The main color was tangerine, with the bridesmaids choosing shades of orange for their dresses.

Where did you go for your honeymoon?

Fiji

Why did you chose Wonderland Bridal for your dream dress?

Reviews on Wedding Wire, The Knot, and Yelp all suggested a very private and intimate experience, with one on one contact with the stylist.

Share your experience about your time with Wonderland Bridal.

From the moment of walking through the door I knew I had made the right decision. I was welcomed with a smile and positive energy. I had my own dressing space with a welcome sign on the wall specialized with my name. Alicyn was accepting of what I wanted and didn’t want out of a dress. She knew exactly what would look great on me and I wasn’t disappointed. The 5th dress was THEE dress!

What was the best part of your wedding day?

Feeling overwhelmed with love for my husband, being surrounded by all my loved ones, and seeing everyones enjoyment at the reception.

Any advice to future couples currently planning a wedding?

Realize that even though you have planned every detail something may still go wrong. And even if it does that is okay because the true meaning of your day is simply about you and your future husband. Keep in mind the true meaning of your day – Love!

Style Guide for the Princess Bride

In honor of the pending nuptials of Prince Harry and Actress, Megan Markle we decided to dedicate this post to all of the brides looking to make their weddings a royal affair. After all, every bride wants to feel like a princess or queen on her special day. Here are a few tips on making your wedding worthy of the royal family.

Coverage

The monarchy in England hosts their wedding ceremonies in a church. Depending on the church or temple you choose, you may be required to cover your arms and have minimal cleavage. A sheer lace sleeve may be that touch of elegance you need to complete a conservative look. We like this dress from Allure Couture.

C406F

Train

Kate Middleton’s train was 9 ft long compared to Diana’s 25 ft long train. While that would make for a very heavy bustle,  you can still have grand entrance with 3 1/2-4 ft train from a gown like this one from Stella York.

StellaYork_6502_05-1

If you want a smaller train but still want some drama, you can opt for a cathedral veil which will give you the length of a long train without having a bustle.

Finishing Touches

Nothing completes the look of a princess like a Tiara. We love this one from Edward Berger for Mon Cheri. It can be ordered in silver or gold.

IMG_1638

Is a tiara not your style? You can try a delicate headband that has all the sparkle of a traditional tiara with a softer look. We love this one from Jaxie Bridal.

IMG_0762 (002)

Bridesmaids

In choosing your color scheme you want to consider jewel tones like “Royal” Blue, Majestic Purple, and Cranberry Red. These colors get their reputation for being associated with royalty, power and wealth because of the price of the dyes used to produce it. In fact, Queen Elizabeth I forbade anyone except close members of the royal family to wear the color purple.

We love these dresses from Sorella Vita.

We at Wonderland Bridal are so excited to see what touches the Markle Sparkle will add to her wedding. We predict she will walk down the aisle in Stella McCartney. If she does, remember where you heard it first!

Love Story: Brenda & Thomas

DP__2152

We sat down with another beautiful Wonderland bride to get her love story. Meet Brenda & Thomas, who were married September 16h, 2017.

DP__2589

When and how did you meet?

We have actually known each other for over a decade but we did not strike a romantic relationship till the summer of 2012. We started talking via social media just as old friends catching up and slowly from there we started talking every day and our friendship grew stronger and eventually became romantic.

How long did you date before he popped the question? We were together almost three years when he got down on one knee.

How did he propose? He surprised me on a trip to NY (which was supposed to be gift for completing grad school). He set up a fake photoshoot in Central Park in front of the Bow Bridge. We were supposed to be looking for a restaurant that was far away from where we entered and once we found it there a was mysterious woman that we followed down to where the photographers were set up that were posing as photography students that were looking to take photos of a couple for an assignment. They walked us through the steps and once I turned around for the last shot, there he was down on one knee.

Where were you married and how did you pick the place?

We were married at the Colonnade Hotel in Coral Gables. We choose the venue because of the grand staircase, the ambiance of the Rotunda and the overall beauty of the hotel. I remember seeing photos of a wedding there almost ten years ago and I always wondered what it would be like to get married there and walk down the staircase to my husband.

What theme and/or colors have you chosen for your wedding and why?

The theme was regal elegance. The colors were gold, ivory and black as an accent color. I selected black to give the wedding a more polished look and to be as formal and black-tie as possible. I felt that the Rotunda was so grand that the theme needed to match the hotel.

Where did you go for your honeymoon?

We want to Las Vegas and stayed at a beautiful suite on the 22nd floor of the Cosmopolitan Hotel.

Why did you chose Wonderland Bridal for your dream dress?

I choose Wonderland Bridal for the reception dress and the bridesmaids’ dresses because the women of Wonderland Bridal were very warm, welcoming and always made me feel like I was shopping with old friends and so it was only natural to have them help me find something that would go well with the venue and theme.

Share your experience about your time with Wonderland Bridal.

My experience was nothing short of amazing. I have built a friendship with Alicyn that made me feel like I was at home. When it comes to trying on gowns there are several different styles, color ranges and price ranges to choose from within the store. Most important the women are very honest when it comes to having your best interest at heart.

What was the best part of your wedding day?

The best part of the day was taking part in all of the traditional reception activities like the first dance, throwing the bouquet and the removal of the garter.

Any advice to future couples currently planning a wedding?

My best advice would be to “take your time” and remember that on the day of to enjoy all the hard work because everyone is there to celebrate the joining of you and your significant other.

Love Story: Lonnika & Willie

IMG_4801We sat down with another beautiful Wonderland bride to get her love story. Meet Lonnika & Willie, who were married September 17th, 2017.

IMG_5189

When and how did you meet?

Willie and I met at my old job back in 2010. I worked with his sister and He came by to visit her. We were introduced and initially, I was not interested in being anything more than friends with Willie however, our natural bond and growing friendship over the years, led to us falling in love with each other.

How long did you date before he popped the question?

We officially started dating March 20, 2015 after being friends since 2010. Willie proposed to me on June 26, 2016.

How did he propose?

Willie totally caught me off guard with his proposal. Being a naturally curious person, I would have figured out his plans if, He didn’t do it the way he did. He suggested that we invite our parents over for a cooked Sunday dinner (which we have done plenty times before). Being distracted with entertaining our parents in the comforts of our home, expecting a proposal was the last thing on my mind. While we were watching a movie, the TV went out, I was about to call our cable provider to complain and suddenly “Stone” by Alessia Cara started playing on the surround sound. Willie stepped out of our room and pulled me off the couch. He professed how much He loved me and then went down on one knee. I instantly broke down in tears, I was totally caught off guard and I can hear my Dad cheering us on. Through the tears, I said YES! It was a beautiful, intimate moment in front of our closest family members. I couldn’t have asked for a better proposal.

Where were you married and how did you pick the place?

We married at The Addison in Boca Raton. As soon as we stepped foot on the grounds we just knew, it was the perfect location for us. The historical mansion was a breath taker. I literally saw a vision of us dancing in the main hall, which is exactly where we end up having our reception at.

What theme and/or colors have you chosen for your wedding and why?

Our colors were forest green and sangria purple with hints of gold and ivory,  which complimented our Enchanted Forest theme.

Where did you go for your honeymoon?

We spent 5 days and 4 nights in Aruba, compliments of being the winners of David Tutera Your Wedding Experience Bridal Show.

Why did you chose Wonderland Bridal for your dream dress?

I always knew I wanted a unique dress. I remember seeing a wedding dress in a magazine and instantly fell in love with it. However, there were no details on the dress number just the brand of dress, this mystery “dream” dress. I happen to come across Wonderland Bridal through my Internet search. The name caught my attention as I though about my theme. I loved the décor, logo and modern boutique look. After looking through the website dress selection, I saw… the…. “dream” dress!!! I also saw that they offered a VIP experience where you literally had one on one service. I had a for sure feeling and booked the VIP appointment. I tried a few other beautiful dresses on before trying on the “dream” dress. Thankfully, It turned out to be the dress!

Share your experience about your time with Wonderland Bridal.

My experience was wonderful! I definitely recommend the VIP experience. I didn’t have to worry about interruptions and the mimosas and tea sandwiches greatly pleased my MOH and Grandmother who attended my appointment. Picking your dress is a really a big deal, so being able to focus and have that personal attention really made things easier.

What was the best part of your wedding day?

The best part of my day was seeing Willie’s reaction as my Father walked me down the aisle. We did not do a first look prior to our ceremony because we wanted the full effect as I walked down the aisle. Personally it amplified that moment for us and made it the highlight of the day for me.

Any advice to future couples currently planning a wedding?

Pre-plan, stick to your vision and stay in comfortable budget. The importance of pre planning was a huge stress savor for us. It is easy to get caught up in the fun of the  engagement period and then We paid for majority of our wedding out of our own pockets. We both come from huge families so we had the difficult choice of having the day of our dreams or including everyone who wanted to attend the wedding. Ultimately, we decided on keeping our guest list small so that we could have everything that we wanted on our wedding date.

Bridal Hair & Makeup Trends

Untitled design (1)

We’re always covering the latest and greatest bridal trends on the Wonderland blog, and today we’re covering bridal hair and makeup trends of 2017-2018! So, what are brides pinning and bringing to life this season in the beauty industry?

  1. Simplicity

Now more than ever, brides want to look less done up, and more like themselves. An “amped up version of themselves”, if you will. A classic bun, whether it be high up on your head or lower down on your head is what we’re hearing a lot more brides doing. Keep it simple and keep it classy.

  1. Baby’s Breath and Flower Embellishments

It’s sad for us to report that flower crowns are officially out. As much as we loved the flower crown trend over the summer, it’s not a trend that will be making an appearance in the upcoming bridal season. Replace flower crowns with baby’s breath or other flower embellishments instead.

  1.  Tousled Waves & Boho Braids

Just because flower crowns are out, doesn’t mean we can’t still get our boho on. So, what is a tousled wave? Think Gisele Bundchen and Blake Lively hair. Effortless looking waves that bring body and volume to a bride’s hair all day long. This is a great trend for brides. Bridesmaids traditionally love to throw a braid or two in their hair. Whether it be a fishtail braid, french braid or small braids throughout tousled hair, braids will never go out of style.

  1. Glow

Brides naturally glow on their wedding day, but we’re seeing more and more “dewy brides” thanks to the latest and greatest beauty hacks and trends emerging out there. Not only does a dewy look plump hydrated skin it’s also a marked sign of youth—something we all want.

  1. Highlighter

With every dewy bride comes a love for highlighting. Take those rose-flushed cheeks to the next level with a touch of highlighter to complete your bridal look. Highlighter brings an automatic “Instagram filter” to your face, and who doesn’t want that? Our favorite highlighter comes from Anastasia Beverly Hills

  1. Nude Lips

Spring/summer was all about bold pops of color, but as we enter into the fall/winter wedding season, we’re hearing more and more brides opting for a nude lip! Originally, a nude lip was applied to downplay bigger makeup moments like a smoky eye or lengthy lashes, but nude is taking center stage this season.

We cover a lot of topics on the Wonderland blog and today, we stepped a little bit out of our comfort zone, but not without some help from Gizella of GEMakeup Artistry and Hair. Our bridal stylists and brides have been working with Gizella for about 3 years now, and it’s safe to say she knows her stuff!

GEMakeup Artistry and Hair offers on site makeup/hair services for any special occasion, so we knew Gizella was just the person to interview. Here’s what she had to say about the latest and greatest makeup trends of the season.

“This past year has been all about the fresh, dewy skin and soft smoky eyes. The colors most commonly asked to be included in brides color palette was a light champagne for the lid and a burgundy hue for the crease. Most common photos shown were that of Blake Lively, Miranda Kerr and of course Carrie Underwood.” – Gizella, GEMakeup Artistry and Hair.
